How Hindu right turns left ?

In Last few weeks Modi government has exposed to the ever lasting dichotomy of Hindu rights in Indian politics. Although Hindu nationalists claim the division of right and left in modern polity is more a borrowed concpet for India as it was concptualised during french revolution where first parliament sat and those who sat on right side were termed as rights and those who sat on the left side became left but it was not so simple and had some ideological conotations for this. But division of right and left has not been so easy and in last few centuries it has journeyed  a long road  and several ideologies shaped this whole debate . In contemporary political scene only two things divide the debate of right and left , one who supports Israel and USA along with more free market economy are considered right  . BJP government’s Church dilemma

When I hear the loud noise of  the so called conversions in country  from both the sides of ruling BJP and opposition led by Congress in parliament  it reminds me the days of Atal Biharee Vajpaee government in 1996 and 1998  when the Indian media and western media witnessed a surge of stroies of so called christian insecurity in the regime of Hindu nationalist BJP. During the regime of Atal Biharee Vajpaee infamous Jhabua incident become lead story for months in Indian media and western media where allegations were made against Bajrang Dal activists ( A wing of broader RSS ideology family) for misconduct against christian nuns. In last one month the debate on Hindutva has  come  in forefront of Indian media and politics. This debate was reignited for several reasons few of them were result of some statements from ministers of union cabinet and some were due to few  other incidents. What awaits for 21st century ?

In the beginning of the 20th century two important events happened which shaped the history for the next century. In 1914 when process of beginning of end of   Khilafat institution started the process of separation of religion and state and diminished role of administered religion become mature and it paved the way for for more rationalization and scientific temper . In 1917 Soviet revolution tried to fill into the shoes of this ideological vacuum and role of faith and religion was almost denied in Marxist ideology . The demand for more rights for under privileged and watching the human history through the prism of economic angel dominated this new phenomenon and the space of left in economic, political , cultural and spiritual sphere was dictated by communists. Is it time to think beyond limitations?

My experience tells me that root cause of all the problems lies in “ Fear” and Fear born out of lack of love and lack of love remains  due to “ confinement in limitations” . As long as you broaden and stretch  your emotions and heart and get down deep into love you would find bitterness and fear reduces . Continue reading “Is it time to think beyond limitations?”
